First Aid Kit
The First Aid kit contains 12 remedies in pilule form:

  • Arnica
  • Hepar Sulph
  • Aconite
  • Hypericum
  • Apis
  • Ledum
  • Belladonna
  • Nux Vomica
  • Chamomilla
  • Pulsatilla
  • Gelsemium
  • Ruta

Others recommended for a first aid kit:

Rescue remedy, Urtica urens cream, Calendula cream, Arnica Cream.


Rescue Remedy:

A Bach flower remedy no first aid kit should be without. Helps with pain, shock and anxiety. Any situation where there is fear:

  • Stress
  • Anxiety
  • Shock and trauma
  • Childbirth
  • Funerals
  • Pre exam nerves

Aconite:

Give in early stages of a cold esp. if it began after being out in cold, dry winds.

  • Ailments from fright
  • Sudden onset
  • Intense symptoms
  • Restless and anxious.
  • Hoarse, dry croupy cough.
  • If child wakes suddenly in the night.
  • Worse at midnight – 3am

Arnica:

For Injury, shock, falls, bruises, overstrain.

  • For after going to the dentist or surgery

  • Shock, bleeding and bruising.

  • Will relieve pain and promote healing and reduce bruising.

  • Childbirth

  • Overstrain, eg gardening all day

*Do not put Arnica cream on broken skin


Apis:

For Sunburn, cystitis, aching joints, insect stings

  • Redness

  • Better for cold applications
  • Person restless
  • Thirstless

Belladonna:

Acute inflammation, eg fever, ear infection, sore throats, colic, sore throats, throbbing headaches

  • Hot, flushed, wide eyed, feverish.
  • Throbbing
  • Redness
  • Ear infection right side
  • Mastitis
  • Sore throats
  • Thirstless

Chamomilla:

For teething, ear infections, colic green motions where child is fractious and angry.

  • Oversensitive to the pain
  • One cheek red and hot.
  • Wants things but throws them away.
  • Wants to be carried and then put down.

Gelsemium:

For flu’s, stage fright, Shock from bad news or grief.

Gelsemium

  • Great weakness, wants to be alone
  • Heavy eyes
  • Thirstless
  • Come on slowly in damp, warm, weather.
  • Fever, pains shoot to ears
  • Sleeplessness from excitement or anticipation
  • Diarrhea or profuse urination.

Hepar Sulph:

Hepar Sulph

For respiratory conditions, sore throats, glands swollen, boils, abscesses, wounds slow to heal.

  • Sore throat with splinter like sensation
  • Pains extend to ears on swallowing
  • Hoarseness
  • Dry cough
  • Croup with loose rattling cough
  • Boils, skin infections
  • Don’t want to be touched
  • Irritable and grumpy

Hypericum:

Hypericum

Injuries to nerves especially the fingers, toes and spine.

  • Injuries to coccyx
  • Fingers jammed in the door, crushed fingers/toes.
  • Puncture woods, injections
  • Sharp shooting pains.
  • Relieves pain after operations
  • Good for after childbirth

Ledum:

Follows after Arnica for bruising. For puncture wounds, bites

  • Insect bites esp mosquito bites.
  • Black eyes
  • Anti-tetanus remedy for standing on rusty nail
  • Puncture wounds.
  • Chilly and better for cold applications.

Nux Vomica:

For stomach disorders, flu’s fever, sleeplessness, constipation, hayfever

  • Over eating from rich food.
  • Oversensitive to noise and smells
  • Hangover remedy
  • Irritable with stomach pains
  • Sleeplessness from overactive mind, business worries.
  • Waking at 4am sleeps in fits and starts.
  • Chilly, worse from movement
  • Aching limbs and sore lower back

Pulsatilla:

Colds, catarrh, measles, mumps, conjunctivitis, and menstrual problems.

Pulsatilla

  • Yellow green bland discharge
  • Wandering pains
  • Tearful
  • Lack of thirst
  • Worse in a warm stuffy room.
  • Wants company, likes being cuddled.
  • Sore ear left side
  • Cough after the measles
  • Periods late, scanty, changeable

Ruta Graveolens:

Injuries to joints and tendons, pain and inflammation.

  • Bruised shins
  • Eyestrain
  • Ganglion of the wrist
  • Sprained ankle, strained tendons
  • RSI
  • Carpal tunnel

What Potency to use?

Remedies come in different potencies 12c, 30c, 200c and up

Most first aid situations use a 30c.

200c Arnica – for servere accidents or shock.

*Any potency is better than none.

How to take the remedies?

You remedy may be is small pilules or in liquid.

Dripper Bottle and Pills

  • Dissolve two pilules or three drops for each dose.

  • The medicine is absorbed through the lining of the mouth so no need to chew or swallow the tablets.

  • Take in a clean mouth leaving 10 minutes between eating or brushing your teeth.

  • Can dissolve pilules in water and sip.

  • Give 3 times a day and look for changing symptoms.

  • Remember to stop giving the remedy at the first sign of improvement.

  • If symptoms don’t improve after 4-5 doses choose the next best indicated remedy.

  • Keep remedy away from strong light, heat and strong smells eg, peppermint, Vicks, aromatherapy oils etc as these may antidote the remedy.

  • Store in a cool dark place away from strong smells.
